Week 7: Hairy McLairy, a hair cut and cakes

October 31 – November 6

A very quiet week, with mostly school and work. Highlights include:

  • N & I popped out for lunch, and found a nice Japanese restaurant. It wasn’t the best Japanese we’ve ever had (if you’re nearby, you should try Nara, on Bedford Place in Southampton…), but was quite nice. Along the way we found a set of statues of Hairy McLairy and his pals (see above). The gang was all there, including Slinky Malinky and Zachery Quack. So cute.
  • I had a hair cut and got it coloured. It took hours! Now I just need to figure out how to style it so it looks as good as it did when I got out of the salon. Alas, my hairdryer is in a container, making it’s way slowly to NZ.
  • We saw a few more houses. Nothing else is leaping out as much as the one we saw the other week. We’ve had to spend $650 on a valuation to find out if the bank will even lend us the money to buy it, and as it’s going to auction, there’s no guarantee we’ll get it. This system is a nightmare!
  • Moodle, B and I went to the Cake Expo and saw some amazing examples of cake decorating. I may have also bought a few bits and bobs. These are two of my favourites from the displays:

That’s it. It was a quiet week.

Kiwi, just returned home after 17 years in the UK. Feminist, wife, mother to 2 daughters. Strongly opinionated and very vocal. I'm wicked through and through.
